Stephen Jones agrees new Scarlets deal

Former Wales fly-half Stephen Jones has agreed a new contract as assistant coach with Guinness PRO12 side the Scarlets.

The Llanelli-based region have not disclosed 39-year-old Jones' length of deal, but he has put pen to paper just days after his fellow Scarlets assistant Ioan Cunningham signed a contract extension.

Jones, who was previously part of the Wasps coaching team under Dai Young, joined Scarlets' back-room staff in 2015.

As a player, Jones won 104 Wales caps and played in six Tests for the British and Irish Lions. He also made more than 300 appearances for Llanelli and the Scarlets.

Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac said: "S tephen is a tireless worker, and his enthusiasm, as well as his technical and tactical ability, rubs off on the boys, and that is evident both on and off the field."
