Stockdale is burning with desire to put on a big show for Ireland

By Jonathan Bradley

Ireland winger Jacob Stockdale says he’s focusing on making sure he does everything right in tomorrow’s clash with Argentina at the Aviva Stadium (kick-off 5:30pm).

The Ulsterman laid down a marker two weeks ago with a fine performance against the Springboks in only his third cap, and is now hoping to do the same tomorrow.

One of the form players in Ireland at the moment, the former Wallace High student will start on the wing again having impressed over the last year.

He’s one of three Ulstermen involved along with captain Rory Best and lock Iain Henderson, while Dungannon man Chris Farrell gets a start in the centre due to an injury to Robbie Henshaw.

But ahead of the game, a relaxed Stockdale is confident that opportunities will fall his way, and when they do he has to capitalise on them.

“I just have to do everything I can right,” is the young star’s simple summation.

“I’ve done my prep, I know (Argentina) inside out and I know what I’m doing.

“It’s just down to the game and if the opportunities come I’ve to take them.”
