Ulster launch four summer camps for girls

By Niall Crozier

With the school holidays fast approaching, Ulster are taking bookings for their Centra-backed girls' rugby summer camps.

There will be four girls' camps this year – one more than before. These will be staged at Clogher Valley RFC (June 30-July 2), City of Derry RFC July 21-23), Malone RFC (August 5-7) and Lurgan RFC (August 18-20).

The aim of the camps will be to introduce and develop key rugby skills in a fun and safe environment, under the watchful eyes of qualified and experienced Ulster Rugby coaches. No previous experience of the game is necessary.

The all-in cost is £30 and the participants will be given a full coaching programme before leaving with a ticket voucher for an Ulster match at the Kingspan Stadium, an Ulster Rugby T-shirt, rugby ball and boot-bag.

Ulster stars Ruan Pienaar, Roger Wilson and Robbie Diack attended the recent launch.

Zoe Templeton, Ulster Rugby's Female Rugby Officer, said: "We want to give as many young girls as possible the chance to try rugby.

"Women's rugby has been thrust into the spotlight with the success of the Ireland Women's squad winning the Six Nations Grand Slam last year. Fourteen women's and girls' teams started up last year at club-level and we'd love that figure to grow."
