Changes for rattled Ravens

By Michael Sadlier

Ulster Ravens will be seeking to make some amends for last weekend's 52-17 British and Irish Cup hammering at Rotherham Titans when they travel to play Yorkshire Carnegie tomorrow at Huddersfield YMCA (ko 2.30pm).

Bottom of Pool Two and out of the running, Ravens' coach Kieran Campbell will be looking for a response from a team which has seen seven personnel changes to last week's starting side.

Up front Lewis Stevenson is brought in to the second row and takes over as skipper of the side from Neil McComb who is his engine room partner tomorrow.

Dave Ryan starts at loose-head prop along with Paul Jackson at hooker while Sean Reidy, who started for the Ulster senior side who lost at Munster last week, is parachuted in at openside flanker.

The other changes see Peter Nelson at full-back while there is a new half-back partnership with Josh Bingham and Michael Heaney coming in for Ritchie McMaster and Conor Young with the latter - who has recovered from a neck issue he picked up at the Titans - on the bench.

There are a few positional shifts as well with New Zealander Ronald Raaymakers moved from lock to flanker and Ricky Andrew switched from full-back to outside centre with Jacob Stockdale moving over for him to the wing.

Carnegie won 22-17 the last time the sides met in October and the second-placed side - who have ex-Ulster player David McIlwaine on the bench for tomorrow - will be aiming to keep up the pressure on leaders the Titans.

Ulster Ravens: P Nelson, J Owens, R Andrew, S Arnold, J Stockdale, J Bingham, M Heaney; D Ryan, P Jackson, B Ross, L Stevenson (capt), N McComb, R Raaymakers, S Reidy, C Butterworth. Replacements: J Andrew, K McCall, J Donnan, C Joyce, C Young, S O'Hagan, A Liddell.
