Coach lauds Stockdale's starring role

By Jonathan Bradley

Ulster star Jacob Stockdale was praised by his coach and captain after picking up a brace of tries and man of the match honours in Ireland's 28-19 win over Argentina on Saturday.

"He's a kid who's learning fast, and willing to learn," said Irish coach Joe Schmidt.

"He's got some great athleticism, very big power and he's a young lad.

"He'll get some real confidence from it I hope, but also he'll get motivation to try to improve on what he delivered."

Rory Best added that the 21-year-old has a bright future if he listens to the likes of Schmidt and keeps growing.

"He's a quality player and what's impressed from last year to this is how he keeps on improving," he said.

"If he keeps learning and stays grounded, there's a bright future for him."

And in his Belfast Telegraph column today, former Ireland and Lions out-half Tony Ward describes Stockdale as a coming superstar.
