The scrum-half sat out the draw with Cheetahs after sustaining a cut in his head against Southern Kings.

However, his Ulster side have been hit by five new injuries ahead of the trip to Thomond Park on Saturday (kick-of 7.35pm).

However, Marcell Coetzee (shoulder), Wiehahn Herbst (groin), Rob Herring (toe), Sean Reidy (hamstring) and Henry Speight (knee) will not play after picking up problems against the Cheetahs.

Craig Gilroy (abdominal muscle) and Will Addison (back spasm) also sustained injuries and will continue to be assessed through the week.

Rory Best confirmed last week that he explains to return a week later against Connacht and it is now expected that fellow international Jacob Stockdale will also return in the first home interpro of the season.
