Ulster Rugby 'to sign South African Ryan Kankowski'

Ulster Rugby are expected to announce the signing of Springbok Ryan Kankowski to replace the outgoing Nick Williams, the BBC is reporting.

The 30-year-old can play at flanker or number eight and currently plays for Natal Sharks in the Super 15.

He has made 20 appearances for his country and featured in the British and Irish Lions test series in 2009.

Nick Williams is to leave Ulster for the Cardiff Blues in the summer.

Director of Rugby Les Kiss said last week that he expects to unveil two big-name signings ahead of next season.

"There's a couple more announcements to be made over the next few weeks," he said.

"Maybe in two, four, five weeks. We'd hope that people are very excited by what we have coming up. We think it's exciting."
