Ulster's young guns fired the side to victory over Uruguay last night in a friendly game that was played in atrocious weather conditions at Kingspan Stadium.

In the first such fixture in Belfast for 10 years, the side coached by Kieran Campbell came out 21-5 winners thanks to an Adam McBurney brace and another score from Marcus Rea.

"We spoke about it that the conditions might be bad but we probably weren't expecting them to be as bad as they were," said skipper McBurney.

"Urugauy played really well. The try that they scored down in the corner at the end was fantastic but I thought we defended well and to concede only five points against a team that's going to be playing in the World Cup in 10 or 11 months' time I thought was excellent from us."
