Ulster's Tommy Bowe out for six months with injury

Ulster winger Tommy Bowe is out of action for six months, as revealed by the Belfast Telegraph last week.

The club has said Bowe sustained posterior cruciate ligament and meniscal injuries to his right knee during the Rugby World Cup quarter final against Argentina.

He had successful surgery to repair the damage yesterday but has been ruled out of action for at least six months.

Meanwhile Iain Henderson faces at least six weeks on the sidelines.

He will undergo surgery later today to stabilise a joint in his hand, which was also injured in the Argentina fixture.

And Jared Payne's fractured foot was stabilised through successful surgery.

Ulster are waiting on his first post-operative review, after which they should expect to find out the length of his lay-off.
