Visser looking to spring surprise
Tim Visser, Scotland's flying Dutchman, hopes to surprise New Zealand when the world champions play at Murrayfield on Sunday.
Visser, at 16st 12lb (109kg) and 6ft 4in (1.93m), comes from the Jonah Lomu-school of wingers, but the All Blacks may know little about the 25-year-old Edinburgh flyer. After three seasons at Edinburgh, signing from Newcastle Falcons when Scotland boss Andy Robinson was head coach, Visser qualified on residency grounds and scored two tries on his debut in Fiji.
Making his international bow in the south Pacific suited Visser, who will make his home debut on Sunday, and he told Press Association Sport: "Being able to sneak under the radar and get my debut in Fiji and then Samoa was good for me. Hopefully I have been able to get in under the radar."
However, it is likely the All Blacks will have done their homework on a player who has been prolific in the RaboDirect PRO12 and last season in the Heineken Cup.
Visser is a versatile, strong runner, with pace - a mold developed by New Zealand with the emergence of Lomu almost 20 years ago.
"The big winger on the left-hand side has become very fashionable," Visser added. "Luckily for me, otherwise I might have been stuck in the back-row somewhere."
The All Blacks' current back three are not Lomu-esque and Visser hopes he can take advantage.
He added: "It's probably going to be Corey Jane. He's good in the air and he does the basics very well, but he's not as big and physical as some of the other wingers I've come up against. There's maybe something I can exploit there.
"It depends how they're going to play the game on the day and how well we execute our game plan. To get the chance to play against the current world champions is incredible and is genuinely a dream come true.
"It's brilliant to be able to measure myself up against someone in my position from their team and that's something I'm looking forward to. In terms of challenges they don't come any bigger. I feel like my career has been steadily building up to this point and I'm now well prepared to go into something like this."
