Welsh youngster banned for doping
A Welsh rugby union player has been banned from all sport for two years following an anti-doping rule violation.
UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) said that 19-year-old Adam Buttifant, who played for Bargoed Rugby Club, tested positive for met abolites of dehydrochloromethyl-testosterone (an anabolic steroid) following an out-of-competition test in June last year.
Buttifant is banned from all sport until midnight on June 23 next year.
UKAD chief executive Nicole Sapstead said: " Adam Buttifant is a young rugby player who had a promising playing career ahead of him.
"By failing to do proper research or seek guidance about the supplements he was taking, he has damaged his sporting career and his reputation."
