Antrim snooker player Mark Allen has reached the second round of the UK Championship after a straightforward 6-1 win over Jamie Wilson in Milton Keynes.

Allen recorded breaks of 132, 85 and 51 on his way to a comfortable win that sets up a second round tie against Chang Bingu at the Marshall Arena.

The World No.9 lost the opening frame to Wilson, however the Englishman was unable to keep pace with Allen as the Champion of Champions found form.

The 34-year-old rolled off the next six frames in a row to ensure there would be no upset and make it into round two.

Allen has mixed memories of this event having reached the final in 2018, losing to Ronnie O'Sullivan, and fell to Stephen Maguire in the semi-finals last season.

Fellow Northern Irish player Jordan Brown is also into the second round after he defeated the in-form Martin Gould in his opening round tie on Wednesday.
