Mark Allen and Gerard Greene both beaten in last 16 at Welsh Open

Mark Allen has been beaten in the third round of the Welsh Open.

The Antrim man was edged out 4-3 in a tight game against Gary Wilson.

Allen had led 2-1 and 3-2 but Wilson won the last two frames to snatch success.

Even in the deciding frame, Allen notched up a break of 54 but Wilson came back with his own break of 79.

Allen had won three consecutive frames to defeat Soheil Vahedi in their last 32 contest on Wednesday.

Northern Ireland international Gerard Greene's run in the tournament also came to an end on Thursday when he was beaten by John Astley, who will go on to meet Gary Wilson in the quarter-finals.

Greene had followed up his shock victory over Shaun Murphy with a 4-3 win against Stuart Carrington.
