Mark Allen through to next round at World Championship

Mark Allen is through to the next round after defeating Joe Perry 13-8 in the Betfred World Championship at the Crucible.

Allen had led 5-3 overnight but was pegged back during the Friday morning session as Perry opened with a break of 103 and added a 120 later in the session to help claw back the deficit.

Northern Ireland's Dafabet Masters champion Allen's highest break of the morning was a 69 in the second frame.

He eventually overcame Perry 13-8 to seal his place in the next round.

On Thursday evening, Allen had fired in this delicious treble to pot the pink during what had been a convincing session:

Allen had delivered a 92 per cent pot success rate as he included breaks of 94 and 99 on route to that 5-3 lead.

Meanwhile, Ronnie O'Sullivan currently trails Ali Carter 8-5 in their second round tie.
