Stars aim to shine on Tele awards night

By Staff Reporter

Northern Ireland's stunning sporting success at home and abroad in 2015 will be celebrated at the annual Belfast Telegraph Sports Awards on January 25 and YOU can be there to see it.

The Awards, sponsored by Linwoods, take place at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Belfast and will reflect on what has been another fabulous year of sport.

A host of prizes will be presented on the night including Manager of the Year, Team of the Year, Player of the Year, Young Team of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Sports Person with a Disability.

A Northern Ireland sporting legend will be inducted into our Hall of Fame, following in the footsteps of the most illustrious names in Ulster sport, and of course our Sports Star of the Year will be crowned to climax the show.

Last year for the first time in the 20 year history of the Awards the top prize was shared between Rory McIlroy and Carl Frampton.

With increased success for Northern Ireland's sports stars around the globe it gets harder and harder to select a shortlist and winners, but along with chairperson of the judging panel, Belfast Telegraph Sports Editor Steven Beacom, former Ulster, Ireland and British Lions rugby hero Stephen Ferris, revered hockey international Angela Platt and Director of Performance at Sports Institute Northern Ireland (SINI) Shaun Ogle did an outstanding job in assessing the hundreds of nominations.

Unsung heroes from Northern Ireland sport will also be honoured at the glittering ceremony which will be hosted by television personalities Jackie Fullerton and Claire McCollum.

At the ceremony on Monday week we will also reveal the winner of Northern Ireland's greatest sports moment, as voted for by the public.
