Four debutants get the call up for senior Inter-Pro

By John Flack

Four teenage newcomers have been named in the Ulster team for next week's senior inter-provincial trip to Claremorris.

In the women's line-up, 17-year-old Hawarden ace Jessica Leeman will be joined by fellow newcomer Amy Rothwell along with previously-capped players Karola Bejenaru, Lucy Octave and Kerri Russell.

The men's team will see Jordan McKeown and Peter Corrie make their debuts and they will be accompanied by established inter-pro campaigners in Alex Watt, Michael Blease and Johnny Obosi.

McKeown would have been hard to overlook having won the Ulster U-18 and Senior titles in the same year while Corrie has also been having a fine season, having made his debut for Ireland at the European U-18 Championship last week.

Bangor native Rothwell was delighted at her selection and has a busy week to look forward to as she, along with Leeman, McKeown and Corrie, will also be playing for the Ulster U-18 team at the junior series in Cork.

"I'm really pleased to be selected for the seniors especially as I'm still a junior," said Rothwell. "I've been working really hard to get results at both junior and senior level so it's great to be acknowledged and rewarded."
