Harry Ellesmere sensationally dumped top seed Owen Kirk out of the Johnston Campbell North of Ireland Open men's singles last night in Hillsborough.
The 16-year-old Bangor player, who had come through qualifying, secured the best win of his short career by beating the Dublin man 7-6 3-6 6-3.
Ellesmere, the reigning Irish Under 16 Junior Open champion, will now meet local rival Jordan McKeown in the semi-finals tonight.
Ulster Open champion McKeown (18) defeated the Republic of Ireland's Dorian Kos 7-6 6-3 after coming from 5-2 down in the first set.
Tonight's other semi-final will be contested by Morgan Lohan and Karl Donaldson, who received a walk over when his scheduled opponent, Alex Watt, was forced to withdraw due to a knee injury sustained when playing a doubles match at the tournament.
Lohan (19) proved too strong for Donaghadee man Aaron Stubbs with a 6-1 6-4 success.
The ladies singles semi-finals also take place tonight with top seeded Dundalk woman Ruth Copas facing Ballynafeigh's Christine Duncan, who has a tough task on her hands.
The other tie sees Windsor's Caitlin McCullough taking on second ranked Kerri Russell (ATT Ballymena), thus guaranteeing at least one Ulster player a place in tomorrow's final.
