Three Ulster region senior showjumpers will contest the first prize of $1million in next week's Spruce Meadows Masters in Calgary, Canada, the horses flying from Liege this weekend.

In addition, the Templepatrick-based mare Suma's Zorro, with Egyptian rider Sameh El Dahan, will defend her title as winner of last year's Masters for owner Joanne Sloan Allen, who said: "It is nerve-wracking as defending champions.

"All the riders fly to Calgary on Monday. Suma's Zorro is in great form so fingers crossed."

Derry's Daniel Coyle competes with Cita, Farrel and Legacy, fresh from his wins in the Vancouver World Cup series, while Banbridge's Dermott Lennon has Gelvin's Touch and MJM Pursuit. Saintfield-born Conor Swail brings GK Coco Chanel and Koss Van Heiste.

Other Irish riders include Capt Brian Cournane with Armik and Castlefield Dream, as well as Michael Duffy on Casis and Mullaghdrin Touch The Stars.

Fintona's Jenny Rankin and Belfast's Sophie Dalm compete at Opglabbeek Show in Belgium.
