Bent warder faces prison sentence

A cocaine-snorting prison officer who smuggled packages into Maghaberry for a notorious career criminal is now facing a jail sentence himself after confessing to bringing parcels into prison for violent armed robber Mark ‘Cheesy’ Cavanagh.

Bent warder Darrall Scott , from Winona Lodge in Donaghcloney, Co Down, was suspended from his duties in May 2009 after being arrested on suspicion of involvement in a jailhouse smuggling scam involving west Belfast thug Cavanagh.

The 45-year-old appeared in court at Craigavon last Tuesday to plead guilty to three counts of misconduct in public office — all relating to the smuggling of packages into scandal-dogged Maghaberry Prison.
