The man charged with immortalising George Best revealed last night that the project has been kicked into touch by a lack of cash.
Five years after the soccer idol’s death there is still no lasting memorial to him in his native Belfast.
But top Ulster artist John Kindness, who was commissioned in 2008 to deliver the tribute, admitted: “I’m afraid recessionary pressures have put it on hold.
“It’s all down to finance and out of my hands,” whose work includes the 32ft “Big Fish” at Donegall Quay, Belfast.
