Celts need to hold Court

Celtic's current goal-den Bhoy Paddy McCourt has stoked up the fire ahead of today’s Old Firm derby by warning his Hoops team-mates that bitter rivals Rangers can bring a premature end to their title fight with victory at Ibrox.

The Hoops are the Scottish Premier League New Year leaders after McCourt secured a narrow 1-0 win over Motherwell in midweek.

But Rangers are only one point behind and with Walter Smith’s men having two games in hand on their cross city rivals, former Derry City winger McCourt fears the Light Blues would inflict a huge psychological blow by winning the second Old Firm clash of the season.

“I can’t see us or Rangers dropping many points against other teams in the league — we’re both too strong,” says 27-year-old McCourt.

“Therefore this Old Firm game is going to be crucial to our season."
