Crime pays

A middle-class fraudster who stole £26,000 from the charity she worked for has found a new job — controlling the cash of Ulster’s JUSTICE watchdog.

Convicted con-woman Evelyn Kilpatrick fleeced the cash from the Habinteg Housing Association between 2007 and 2008 while working as their finance manager.

Amazingly, the white-collar crook is now finance officer at the Belfast office of Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland — which carries out checks on all aspects of the law across the Province.

Even more astonishingly, she was allowed to stay in charge of CJI’s finances as she was being investigated for her charity fraud.
