If you are hoping to spot Ed Sheeran at Ardglass Golf Club in Co Down next week ahead of his Boucher Road gigs in Belfast, you might be unlucky.
The singer attempted to hit 18 holes at the course before his last sell-out gig in Belfast in 2018 but had to abandon it when fans descended on the club.
Speaking to Pete Snodden on Cool FM, the 31-year-old said: “George Lowden, who runs Lowden Guitars, said, ‘Oh, come and play golf’. I want to like try and maintain a smidgen of normality so people don’t think I’m a total freak, so I said to George, ‘Yeah, that’ll be fine’, but in the back of my head I was like, ‘I don’t know if this is this is going to work out’.”
Of course, we know it didn’t. Reflecting on his inability to stay incognito, Sheeran said: “It’s nice when people are excited. I think I managed two holes then we went we went to a nice pub afterwards and had some grub.”
