Euge deal is a title boost
Toomebridge rider Eugene Laverty is on course for a final race showdown with Turkish rider Kenan Sofuoglu at Magny Cours on October 3 — the victor pretty much taking the 2010 World Supersport crown.
But Laverty is happy in the knowledge that, regardless of the outcome in France, his future plans are secure after putting pen to paper for the factory-supported Sterilgarda Yamaha World Superbike team on Friday.
Next season will be Laverty's first ever on a Superbike and he will compete against countryman Jonathan Rea. But the The prodigiously talented youngster always delivers a pragmatic approach to his racing, and is looking forward to the challenge.
“It's nice to have this deal sorted before the end of the season,” Laverty said.
