Hazel's husband vows to stand by her

Double killer Hazel Stewart has begged her husband to leave Northern Ireland and make a new life for himself.

Stewart — who this week will discover how long she has to spend in jail for killing her first husband Trevor Buchanan and the wife of her lover Lesley Howell — has pleaded with her husband to move on without her.

But our source said retired police chief superintendent David Stewart, who married Stewart five years ago, has told his 48-year-old wife he will stand by her and continue to support her.

Last week Mr Stewart wrote a letter to the trial judge Mr Justice Hart pleading for a lenient sentence for his wife.
