Hopes of tragic suicide athlete
A talented rower who took her own life on a busy dual carriageway on Friday had said she hoped 2011 would be a better year than 2010.
Karen Cromie, 31, died on the main Bangor to Belfast road after falling from a bridge at the Holywood Exchange.
It’s understood that the Co Fermanagh paralympian is the same woman who had threatened to fall from the bridge two weeks ago.
Her tragic death happened just one day after she had been named in the Paralympics Ireland panel of athletes for 2011.
In October Karen had posted on her twitter feed that 2010 had not been a good year, writing: “Spending the morning in my second home SINI (Sports Institute Northern Ireland) and then meeting Performance Director Martin McElroy to plan 2011 — has to be better than 2010.”
