Massive rush to see Irish cricketers

A major undercover police operation is being mounted to crack down on ticket touts hoping to make a financial killing at today’s 38,000 sell-out World Cup game between India and Ireland.

Ireland’s historic win over England on Wednesday has sent the price of tickets soaring and plain clothes police have already made a number of arrests and recovered dozens of tickets. Tickets were still available before the Irish victory that shocked the cricket world but demand has reached levels never before seen in the southern Indian city of Bangalore. #

And the Irish players have received an unexpected boost following their heroics against England. Team sponsors RSA had promised a bonus of 50,000 euro if the team won two of their six matches during the group stage. But the company reckons the momentous victory over England was worth two and the money has been paid into the players’ pool.
