Bangor man falls to his death from Manchester apartment block

By Stephen Gordon

A young County Down man plunged to his death from a Manchester city centre apartment block last week.

Bangor man Christopher McNally, 30, died after falling from the balcony of his flat in the Green Quarter of the city.

Family and friends have been posting tributes on Facebook to the popular ex-Bangor Grammar School pupil.

Manchester police and paramedics raced to the scene of the tragedy at around 8am on Wednesday.

On arrival they discovered a body on the pavement and Mr McNally was declared dead at the scene. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and they had passed the case to the coroner.

Chris McNally had a conviction for drug smuggling but friends say he had turned his life around after a spell in jail.

It is understood that his Bangor parents have travelled to Manchester to organise the return of his body.
