Kelly Brook's 'awkward' date with Eddie Irvine
He has lived life in the fast lane with some of the world’s most beautiful women, but race ace Eddie Irvine failed to impress bombshell Kelly Brook.
Busty model Kelly has spilled the beans on her very brief romance with the Formula One star in her new tell-all autobiography Close Up — describing their date as “the most awkward and uncomfortable” of her life.
Renowned Newtownards playboy Eddie has dated actress Pamela Anderson, model Michelle Doherty and Rod Stewart’s ex-wife Rachel Hunter in the past.
He has also been linked to scores of other beauties including Kate Moss, singer Kylie Minogue, Mick Jagger's ex Luciana Morad, Russian stunner Olga Pavolova, American model Kathyrn Rice and Dutch beauty Anouk Voorveld.
The 48-year-old also has a daughter, Zoe, with former girlfriend model Maria Drummond.
But fast Eddie’s Casanova ways didn’t thrill a teenage Kelly.
Recalling their first meeting at Silverstone when she was just 18 and the F1 driver was 32, Kelly said: “I stood next to him and smiled for the camera, and that was that.
“But obviously he asked someone who I was and later called me.”
During the phonecall, renowned ladies’ man Eddie tried to impress Kelly by telling her he would fly his private jet from Monaco to take her for dinner in her hometown of Rochester.
But Kelly replied that she’d have to ask her mum first.
“I was just freaked out,” she said.
“I was living at home with my mum and dad, and knew nothing of private jets, let alone if you could land one at Rochester |Airport.
“I didn’t even know of a restaurant in Rochester where we could have had dinner, even if he did manage to land the jet.
“All I was thinking was, ‘I’d better look in the Yellow Pages.’
“I had no game, I wasn’t cool.”
In the end the pair had dinner together at London’s exclusive Nobu restaurant, but things didn’t go to plan.
Kelly said: “I’d never even eaten Japanese in my life but I ordered a seaweed salad, which was the most disgusting thing I’d ever eaten.
“I pretended that chewing on a mouthful of salty rubber was the most normal and delicious thing in the world. It was the most awkward, uncomfortable date I’ve ever been on.
“Eventually, after heading out to a nightclub, I went back to his hotel room and we had a kiss and a fumble, and that was that.”
Kelly decided not to pursue the relationship further because of the 14-year age gap between the two.
“Next morning, his driver drove me home and Eddie said he was going to visit his |daughter.
“It made me realise how much older he was,” she said.
“I was just 18 and he was 14 years older and had a child, so I rather backed off him.”
Now 34, Kelly has had a colourful love life, having dated several high profile men including actors Jason Statham and Billy Zane and rugby star Danny Cipriani.
She is currently engaged to ex-Gladiator David McIntosh.
