AN award-winning Newry gym owner who was recently fined £2,500 after he was convicted of multiple breaches of Covid regulations has denied four more similar charges laid against him.

Following a brief contest at Newry Magistrates Court earlier this month 33-year-old Declan Trainor, who at one stage claimed he was a “freeman” and handed in a birth certificate seemingly signed in blood, was convicted of four breaches of emergency Covid regulations.

At the same court on Wednesday, defence counsel Craig Patton confirmed pleas of not guilty to allegations relating to four breaches of Covid regulations on 27, 28, 29 and 31 December last year.

District Judge Eamon King adjourned the case against Trainor, of Rossmara Park, Warrenpoint until January 19 “to fix a date” for contest.
