Open season for Maik
As Northern Ireland’s reliable goalkeeper for over 10 years, Maik Taylor has made a habit of being in the right place at the right time.
On countless occasions, the 38-year-old has come to Northern Ireland’s rescue with superb saves from goalbound efforts.
But little did Taylor know, when he bought VIP tickets to the US Open at an auction last month, that he would be cheering home a winner from Northern Ireland.
Taylor was at Pebble Beach for the full four days and watched with delight and excitement as Graeme McDowell became the first Northern Ireland golfer to win a Major since Fred Daly in 1947 ahead of players such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els.
