In a pulsating, frenetic Ulster Senior Football Championship quarter-final at Kingspan Breffni Park last night, Fermanagh not only reversed last year’s ignominious defeat at the hands of their hosts but fired out a warning that they could prove a hot handful for Monaghan in the semi-final in two weeks time.
Manager Malachy O’Rourke’s hope that his side might finally unleash the skill, character and commitment that has largely lain dormant to date this year was granted as the Ernesiders dug deep to chart a course past an enthusiastic but rather naive Cavan side.
