Paddy eyes London gold
Golden boy Paddy Barnes will target glory at the London Olympics in 2012 after his stunning victory at the European Championships in Moscow.
Yesterday, light-flyweight Barnes became the first Irish boxer to claim European gold in 19 years when he beat Azerbaijan’s Elvin Mamishzade, 4-1.
The Belfast man, a 2008 Beijing bronze medallist, has already been approached to turn pro but it is understood that Barnes will remain an amateur and shoot for Olympic gold in two years time.
