Rory McIlroy is aiming to take a leaf out of Graeme McDowell’s book as he bids for Open glory at St Andrew’s later this month.
The 21-year-old is renowned for his aggressive approach to the game — which has brought him success both on the European and US Tours.
But missed cuts at the last two Majors, allied to McDowell’s US Open success at Pebble Beach last month, has prompted something of a rethink.
“I have to try to stay patient and try to keep hitting good shots and good putts,” he says.
