He takes the call just after putting Northampton Saints' training kit through the wash. It isn't usually part of Paul Shields' job description, but it reflects the times we are all living through.

The English Premiership club's Head of Player Recruitment and Retention has no issues mucking in for the greater good as Northampton ramp up for next month's return to action.

But the former Ulster and Ireland hooker is also up for some welcome distraction - it has been a challenging time with Saints also agreeing a 10% pay cut for players and staff over the next 12 months - to reflect on his playing days this side of the Irish Sea.
