You’re about to play your part in a top-of-the-table clash in front of a raucous crowd at a jam-packed stadium and, as you step out of the tunnel, you do so proudly hand-in-hand with your young son who is performing the role of team mascot — except he’s fully kitted out in your opponents’ colours and wants you to lose the game!

That peculiar scenario was a bizarre reality for Larne’s Tomas Cosgrove against Cliftonville last weekend.
