Tyrone McKenna can take another big step towards the biggest pay day of his career with a win in the semi-finals of the Golden Contract light-welterweights this Friday night.
The light-welterweight tournament looks wide open and crucially for McKenna he has Pete Taylor in his corner for the first time. He could be the key to helping McKenna go all the way.
The semi-final line-up will be drawn this week but whoever he faces, McKenna will be very hard to beat. He's a 6ft 1in southpaw and with his jab he can make life a lot more easy for himself than getting involved in brawls as he has done in the past.
He has had a long rivalry with Ohara Davies and most people would like to see that fight. Davies has a lot of power but when the going gets tough he folds.
He did that against Josh Taylor and when that's in you it's always there - he doesn't seem to have the grit to tough it out when things are not going his way.
