World Cup fans were the real winners in Brazil

It was billed as the greatest show on earth — the 2014 World Cup, which culminated with Germany's 1-0 victory over Argentina in Rio.

There have been tears and there’s been glory in Brazil — and above all there has been spectacular displays of colour from the hundreds of thousands |of football fans who descended on the Samba nation from all over the globe.

On the pitch the competition has provided sensational goals, massive shocks and full blown controversy as Uruguay's Luis Suarez bit the shoulder of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini and was promptly banned for four months.

Football heavyweights Spain, Italy and England were all sent packing early while underdogs like Costa Rica, Algeria and the United States taught the old masters a lesson.

The host nation’s campaign will always be remembered for that humiliating 7-1 semi-final capitulation to Germany.

But it's the colourful, gorgeous and flamboyant fans who have added so much to the football carnival in Brazil.

From the world famous Copacabana beach in Rio to Manaus in the Amazon jungle, supporters have cheered on their national heroes and watched anxiously as the games have been played out.

And we have captured every moment of the highs and lows from Brazil in our spectacular gallery. It has certainly been a fang-tastic World Cup...
