Sunday Life backed over dissident story
Sunday Life has been vindicated over its unmasking of four men identified in a leaked Government document as suspected dissident terror figures.
The four — Brendan O’Connor, Don Mullan, Kevin Barry Murphy and John Connolly — moaned to the Press Complaints Commission that we intruded into their private lives when we revealed the leaked dossier’s contents alongside their photographs.
The PCC threw out their complaints and said the article — headlined “Unmasked: Masters of Mayhem” — had dealt with areas of “general public interest”.
Our story, which was carried on November 29 last year, came just days after the Continuity IRA attempted to murder a police officer in Fermanagh and Oglaigh na hEireann tried to blow up the Policing Board's Belfast HQ.
