Title race hotting up

Linfield were the weekend’s biggest victors as the race for the Carling Premiership title shows little sign of slowing down.

The Blues trounced Lisburn Distillery 5-0 at New Grosvenor to elevate themselves to second in the table, leapfrogging Glentoran and Crusaders who played out a goalless draw at the Oval.

Leaders Cliftonville were held by Newry City, while high-flying Dungannon Swifts shared eight goals with Portadown in another Stangmore Park goalfest.
