Jimmy Manning was also a former All-Ireland boxing champ who was once Barry McGuigan’s sparring partner.
But last week he was jailed for 10 years after a court heard how addictions to booze and gambling led to him embarking on a life of crime.The 45-year-old west Belfast man, who is recovering from cancer, pleaded guilty on Thursday to being part of a tiger kidnapping gang that terrified a post-mistress and her young family.
Instead of dishing up award-winning food in top restaurants, Manning will now spend his time serving up prison grub in the canteen at Maghaberry Prison.
