TRAVEL GUIDE: Lough Erne Resort

If you fancy watching your little ones follow in the footsteps of Northern Ireland’s golfing greats including Graeme McDowell or Rory McIlory, then the sumptuous Lough Erne Resort could have the answer.

The gorgeous five-star golfing hotel resort outside Enniskillen has just launched Cygnets and Mini Cygnets — a new family break special giving the kids a chance to get lessons from the Faldo Academy with a golf package designed exclusively for guests aged 6–11.

The hotel really has thought of everything to ensure the kids are kept amused while mum and dad can also relax and enjoy the Resort’s fabulous facilities.

The Faldo Academy is run by a team of Lough Erne’s PGA professionals and, especially for the smaller guests, a 45-minute Cygnets golf session will cost £20 and includes tuition, Cygnet's golf hat, refreshments and a certificate of participation. The Cygnets programme also includes a dedicated check-in with personal check-in registration cards, a welcome pack with a Lough Erne colouring book and crayons. Cygnets bathrobe and slippers await them in their luxury room or Loughside Lodge; turndown treats include a Lough Erne Swan, a plate of home-baked cookies and mini marshmallows.

A special Cygnets Afternoon Tea costs £9 per Cygnet and is available from 2–5pm with assorted finger sandwiches and delicious cygnet treats. A Mini Cygnets package, (0-3 years) costs £15 per Cygnet and includes a luxury massaging cot with musical mobile and changing area, baby bath with thermometer, towelling robe and bath mitt, complimentary baby food in The Catalina Restaurant, a toy Mini Cygnet, bath duck, baby care set, bottle warmer and potty.

Set on a 600 acre peninsula nestled in between Lower Lough Erne and Castle Hume Lough, the privately-owned Lough Erne Resort is a real get-away-from-it-all retreat.

It has 120 guestrooms as well as 25 luxury Loughside Lodges which offer private, fully serviced accommodation. A golfers’ paradise, it has two Championship Golf Courses, including The Faldo Course and The Halfway House, situated directly behind the ninth green with breathtaking views over Lower Lough Erne.

While the kids enjoy their chance to tee off with the professionals, adults can easily while away their time either at The Thai Spa, taking in the breathtaking views on The Collop Walk around the Resort grounds, enrol for a golf lesson or just enjoy a round of golf on The Faldo Course.

The perfect excuse to treat the children and escape for an exquisite and truly relaxing holiday, Cygnets costs from £238.50pp (based on four persons sharing) and includes two-nights in a ‘Swan' view room, a buffet breakfast each morning; a choice of special DVD's available from the DVD Library, an early dinner with all the family as well as the full Cygnets or Mini-Cygnets package for kids.
