Newlyweds William and Kate pulled off one more surprise yesterday — by delaying their honeymoon until later in the year.

The new Baron and Baroness of Carrickfergus left Buckingham Palace by helicopter, following a late night partying with friends and relatives, for a long weekend break said to be at Balmoral.

William will return to work on Tuesday as a search and rescue pilot at RAF Valley in Angelsey, North Wales.

It had been thought William would take two weeks off for the traditional post-wedding break with his bride in an exotic, sun-soaked foreign location.

But the couple, who also have the title Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have opted to unwind in familiar surroundings, thought to be at the Queen's Balmoral Estate in Scotland, which will afford them privacy and stunning countryside in which to unwind.
