Video: Belfast Maritime Festival: Tall ships sail up Lagan for festival of maritime fun

By Staff Reporter

The first tall ships ships have arrived ahead of this year's Belfast Titanic Maritime Festival.

The TS Royalist sailed into Belfast Harbour at lunchtime yesterday followed shortly afterwards by the Pelican of London.

Next to dock was the ILV Granuaile, whose normal function is to place and service 150 offshore buoys, which warn mariners of offshore hazards near shipping routes.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the two-day event, which begins tomorrow and continues on Sunday.

Visitors will be given the chance to climb aboard vessels at Queen's Quay where there will also be ships from the Royal Navy and Irish Navy. On-shore there will be a full programme of maritime-themed entertainment, including live music in the marquee.
