What is Tele Recommends?

Asked to name Northern Ireland's five best health food products, he recommends...

Abernethy Butter

A husband and wife team have combined hard work with years of knowledge and skill to create Abernethy Butter. It starts as cream sourced from a local farm where cows graze on the lush green pastures of the Lagan Valley before being churned the traditional way by artisan producers. Their only interest is to create an unforgettable taste and flavour as far removed from mass-produced butter. The butter has been a hit with top chefs from Heston Blumenthal to Marcus Wareing.

Linwoods manufacture a wide range of healthy super food combinations, such as milled organic sunflower and pumpkin seeds and milled flaxseed cocoa, strawberries and blueberries. Much of the product range contains milled organic flaxseed and is an easy dietary intake of essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals.

Keen Nut Butter

The aim of Keen is to produce healthier versions of familiar foods. They have an ever-increasing product range. In particular the Keen Almond Butter is much healthier than peanut butter. Almonds have been known to decrease inflammation, balance out PH levels and are a good source of vitamin E, protein, fibre, antioxidants plus it's delicious too.

Squeeze Wheatgrass Juice

Wheatgrass is widely known in Europe and America and a number of health benefits have attributed to regular ingestion of the juice as far back as the 1940s, including boosting red blood cell production, stabilisation of blood sugars, improved circulation, increased energy and detoxification. Squeeze is located in Warrenpoint, Co Down and is only the UK producer of a 100% natural ready-to-drink wheatgrass shot.

Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil

Discovered by accident in their kitchen, Broighter Gold is owned by Richard and Leona Kane from Limavady. Rapeseed Oil is one of the most healthy and versatile cooking oils. It contains Omega 3, 6 and 9 and Vitamin E. It has half the saturated fat of olive oil which is a must-have for any kitchen. Not only is it healthier but it has a very subtle nutty flavour which makes it perfect for frying, drizzling and baking.
