Lomas could have been top boss

Steve Lomas can count himself a little unfortunate that he wasn't considered for the Manager of the Year in Scotland considering the job he has done this season at St Johnstone.

Lomas

really deserved to be lauded a lot more after leading St Johnstone into the Europa League for a second successive season.

For a club who have the lowest average attendance in the top flight that's a very impressive return.

Going into the last day of the season they were relying on Inverness losing and they had to beat second placed Motherwell.

They played their part by getting the win they needed, as did Ross County beating Inverness, and Saints finished in third place in the SPL against the odds.

In his first managerial job Lomas has shown he has all the attributes to continue his march up the coaching ladder, so watch this space.
