Responsibility for all aspects of economic policy in Northern Ireland
The Spend Local scheme boosted the Northern Ireland economy by more than £137m – while those who got their cards late will be able to spend them from Christmas Eve until early January, Gordon Lyons has said.
A Bangor woman has revealed how she has received nearly 5,000 calls in four days — and rang nearly 300 of those people back — after the Spend Local scheme accidentally emailed her business number out instead of their phone helpline.
“Use it or lose it,” Economy Minister Gordon Lyons told all those who still had money on their Spend Local cards as the deadline approached at midnight on Sunday. They’ve been used to the tune of £131m. Those who didn’t use it, lost it.
