Comedian says he might have taken own life if online gambling was available during his addiction

Comedian John Robins has told BBC Three that if he had access to internet gambling at the height of his gambling addiction, it could have led to him taking his own life. Robins started gambling at the age of 16 on fruit machines in pubs, saying that it was a way of switching his brain off. Speaking to fellow comedian Lloyd Griffith for a BBC Three documentary Can You Beat the Bookies? he said: “If I had the same problem now as an 18 year old as I did then, with access to the internet and apps on my phone, I would probably be dead because I would have killed myself.”
