Mum-of-two dubs herself a real-life womble, using conkers to wash her clothes

A real-life Womble who washes her clothes in conkers has told how she began her "mission to save the planet" as a little girl after picking up tips from the BBC children's show Blue Peter. Likening herself to a Womble - the cute fictional creatures from the Elizabeth Beresford books and TV adaptation, who gathered and recycled rubbish on Wimbledon Common - mum-of-two Jenny Cahill, 34, has also swapped harmful cleaning products for non-polluting alternatives. Jeweller Jenny, who lives in Exeter, Devon, with her husband Simon, 44, a supermarket general assistant and their children, Leonor, three, and Torben, one-and-a-half, said: “I’m not preachy about this greener way of life."
