Ruth Davidson quits as Scottish Tory leader

Ruth Davidson has quit as leader of the Scottish Conservatives. Her announcement comes a day after the Queen approved Boris Johnson's request to suspend Parliament. Ms Davidson lent her support to Mr Johnson's rival Jeremy Hunt during the Tory leadership campaign. Ms Davidson led the party for eight years, turning the Conservatives into the second largest party at Holyrood. She returned to work in May after giving birth to a baby boy in October 2018.
